Apple launched the all new iPhone 13 line-up, a new, refreshed iPad mini, Apple Watch Series 7, and an all new iPad (2021). Following is the breakdown of all the newly released Apple products.
iPad (2021)
Apple has added the ninth iPad to its most popular iPad series, the original. The new iPad is packed with new features. Apple announced that the new iPad has the advanced A13 bionic chip as its processor. The A13 bionic chip had previously been used in the iPhone 11 series. The new iPad has the same screen size as the previous iPad; 10.2 inch retina display, which is still a great display size.
The display has True-Tone technology now. True Tone adjusts the display to the color temperature of the room to make viewing comfortable in any light. The new iPad also features a much more powerful neural engine for machine learning–based features like Live Text in iPadOS 15.
The new front-facing camera is 12MP Ultra Wide, which is a huge upgrade compared to last year. It also has the Center Stage feature seen already in the iPad Pro. Center Stage makes video calls more engaging by automatically adjusting to keep you centered in the frame. And it lets you create fun videos for posting to popular social apps.
Price range and storage
The new iPad starts at $329 for the base 64 GB model (Wi-Fi only) and $479 for the 256 GB model (Wi-Fi only). For the cellular versions, the prices start at $459 and $609, respectively.
iPad mini (2021)
Apple announced a new iPad mini with a completely new design, similar to the one seen in iPad Air (4th generation). The new iPad mini features an edge-to-edge screen with thin bezels all around. For its processor, the iPad mini has the newest A15 Bionic chip which also features in the new iPhone 13 line-up. It has an 8.3″ Liquid Retina display with True Tone technology.
The display is much brighter now and has a better resolution. The newest generation of iPad mini features 5G technology for faster download and browsing speeds. The iPad mini now has a USB-C connector. The camera setup is new too which features a 12 MP wide rear camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide front camera. The iPad mini also has the Center Stage feature. It comes in four new colors; Space Grey, Starlight, Purple, and Pink.
Price range and storage
The new iPad mini starts at $499 for the base 64 GB model (Wi-Fi only) and $649 for the 256 GB model (Wi-Fi only). For the cellular versions, the prices start at $649 and $799, respectively.
Apple Watch Series 7
The newest edition of the Apple Watch, the Series 7 was also announced in the September event of Apple. The new Apple Watch has a bigger screen than before which goes from corner to corner. The screen area is 20% more than that of Series 6. And the bezels are 40% thinner.
Apple Watch Series 7 charges 33% faster and it is also dust resistant. 8 minutes of charging provides 8 hours of sleep tracking. The glass is stronger too with a 50% thicker crystal. The watch also features more rounded and softer corners. The user interface is modified to better fit information on the larger screen, with new watch faces as well. Apple Watch Series 7 comes in five new aluminum finishes; midnight, starlight, green, red (Product Red), and a new blue.
Price
The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro
The highlight of the most recent Apple event was of course the announcement of the new iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro line-ups.
The new iPhone 13 and 13 Pro have the A15 bionic chip which Apple says is 50% faster than the competition. The display of the iPhone 13 is brighter (800 nits) than last year’s model. The battery life is slightly better too with up to 19 hours of video playback. Both the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro have a smaller true-depth camera layout (notch), which is 20% smaller than before. The rear-camera setup has the camera lenses arranged diagonally rather than vertically in the iPhone 13 line-up.
The cameras have major upgrades too, there are features like cinematic mode which “focuses” on change if focus, and there are photographic styles as well. The iPhone 13 comes in five new finishes; midnight, starlight, blue, pink, and red (Product Red).
The iPhone 13 Pro line-up also has minor upgrades. The display is brighter (1000 nits) and it also features ProMotion (refresh rate of 120 Hz) now which has previously been seen in iPad Pro. The Pro versions also feature an all-new camera setup with macros for ultra-wide. They also include the before-mentioned cinematic mode and photographic styles. The Pro models have a better battery life too, the iPhone 13 Pro Max according to Apple lasts for up to 28 hours with video playback, which is quite impressive. iPhone 13 Pro can now record ProRes video at 4K 30fps. There are four stainless steel finishes in the Pro models; graphite, silver, gold, and all new sierra blue.
